When an accident occurs at sea, the shipping company contacts its insurance company, either directly or through its broker. The insurance company decides whether or not to appoint a surveyor (Marine Surveyor). As maritime accidents often occur in distant areas, it may be a challenge for the insurance company to find a competent local inspector who can expose the view of the damage. The inspection industry is characterized by high competition and with an offer that exceeds demand, while the quality and experience among inspectors is very fluctuating. The current market mechanisms are opaque and not necessarily driven by competences that match the task. All this makes the industry ripe for digitization by creating a platform that will bring new opportunities for customers and suppliers. SYVR is changing how marine insurance companies identify, conclude contracts and manage viewing tasks worldwide.
